Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet has parted ways with the Champions League winners.

Simon Mignolet of Liverpool looks on during the FA Community Shield match between Liverpool and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on August 4, 2019 in London, England.

Bolo Zenden and Dejan Lovren have wished Simon Mignolet well on Instagram after he left Liverpool for Club Brugge on Monday.

The 31-year-old, who lost his number one status at Anfield to Alisson Becker last season, made the switch to his homeland of Belgium, with the Reds signing Adrian as his replacement, as reported by BBC Sport.

During his time on Merseyside, Mignolet was a popular figure at the club as he was a regular in between the sticks for quite a long period.

Following Mignolet’s transfer to Club Brugge, his Liverpool teammate Lovren sent a heartwarming message to him via his personal Instagram account, with former Reds player and now Chelsea coach Zenden also sending his wishes:

Former West Ham United keeper Adrian will now play deputy to the highly-rated Alisson, who is arguably one of the best keepers in the world, at this moment in time.

For a number of years, Liverpool have been searching for someone to make that number one spot their own, with constant errors hampering the games of Mignolet and Loris Karius.

But the arrival of Alisson last summer changed everything because along with Virgil van Dijk, they transformed Liverpool’s defence into the best defensive unit in the Premier League, and perhaps Europe.

That defence, which helped Jurgen Klopp win the Champions League trophy in June, will be looking to win the Premier League title ahead of the new campaign.

The Reds will start their road to the Premier League title by hosting the champions of the Championship, Norwich City at Anfield on Friday night.
