Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has been sidelined for more than a year.
Everton trickster Yannick Bolasie has thanked Toffees fans and Crystal Palace supporters for their support during his time on the sidelines as he finally overcomes a long-term knee injury.
The 28-year-old has been out of action for 13 months after first suffering the injury during a 1-1 draw against Manchester United, and is now available for selection following his return with the Toffees’ Under-23 side last week.
Bolasie featured for 29 minutes as a substitute against Leicester’s second string during a 2-1 loss to the Foxes, and could now be a part of the Everton squad ahead of Monday night’s clash against Swansea City.
Posting a video on Instagram, DR Congo international Bolasie thanked his side’s fans for their support, as well as former side Crystal Palace as Sam Allardyce prepares his side for Monday night’s outing.
“Just want to say a massive thank you to all the fans,” Bolasie said. “For all your continued support whilst I’ve been injured, I can’t wait to show you guys what I’m about.
“I promise you guys I’ll do the best I can and play to the best of my ability, to show you what I’m capable of doing. Hopefully see you guys on the pitch, that’s not just a thank you to Everton fans.
“I’ve had great support from my country DRC, and former clubs CPFC. Thank you all for your support, see you soon.”
Before suffering the injury during a tussle with United winger Anthony Martial, Bolasie had made 15 appearances in all competitions for Everton – scoring once and adding four assists in the blue of the Merseyside club.
Allardyce will be hoping for another three points against Swansea at Goodison Park, after winning two of his three Premier League games in charge against Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United as well as drawing against Liverpool.
If Everton avoid defeat to Swansea, then they will leapfrog Watford into ninth place in the Premier League.
