Leicester City landed Ayoze Perez for £30m this week – and another striker in Reghba is heading for Brendan Rodgers’ Premier League outfit too.
Bohemians manager Keith Long has confirmed to the Irish Independent that highly-rated striker Ali Reghba is on his way to Leicester City.
It’s an exciting time to be a Leicester fan. With Brendan Rodgers at the helm, The Foxes appear to have a manager capable of guiding them into the top six for the first time since the days of Claudio Ranieri, while Youri Tielemens is expected to return to the King Power alongside new £30 million signing Ayoze Perez.
With this in mind, the addition of 19-year-old Reghba (above, far right), which has now been confirmed by the club’s official website, is unlikely to dominate too many headlines.
The teenage Irishman spent time on trial at Leicester in January and it seems that the 2016 Premier League champions have now won the race for a player who had been previously linked with Leeds United and Middlesbrough, as reported by the Irish Sun.
“Everyone at Bohemians wishes Ali the very best of luck in his move (to Leicester). He’s a successful graduate of our U19s and underage system and we wish him the very best for the future,” manager Keith Long said.
Given that Brendan Rodgers has a proud tradition of promoting youth into his first-team plans, Reghba might have just joined the perfect club as he looks to follow in the footsteps of his idol, the one and only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (League of Ireland).
A skilful and eye-catching forward, the teenager will have to compete with Perez and Jamie Vardy for a place in Rodgers’ plans with the former Liverpool and Celtic boss set to thrill fans and neutrals alike thanks to his famously free-wheeling style next season.
