Bobo Balde has told The Sunday Post that Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glashow Rangers will make it tough for Neil Lennon’s Celtic next season.

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership last season and push Celtic hard during the first half of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Gers will be determined to give the Hoops a run for their money all the way next season, and Celtic legend Balde has suggested that it will not be easy for Lennon’s side.

Balde told The Sunday Post: “I will come over for a couple of games in the new season. I have a feeling there will be celebrations.

“But they must not take anything for granted. And that is the message Neil will always tell the players.

“Rangers will be harder than ever to beat. Their determination to stop Celtic will be as much as Celtic’s determination to succeed.”

Title race

Celtic have been the best team in Scotland for almost a decade and have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past eight seasons.

Rangers, though, look rejuvenated under manager Gerrard last season, and the Gers will be determined to stop the Hoops’ league triumph run.

For Rangers to challenge Celtic next season, the Ibrox club need to maintain consistency in their game and have to win matches against ‘lesser’ sides, especially away from home.

Rangers also need to maximum points from the Old Firm derby games against Celtic.
