Rodgers has left Celtic to take over at Leicester City.
Brendan Rodgers somewhat surprisingly left Celtic on Tuesday to join English Premier League side Leicester City despite the club being at the top of the table – which has seen Bobo Balde and John Hartson criticise Rodgers on Twitter.
Celtic are on course to complete a third successive treble this season, with Rodgers already overseeing a Scottish League Cup win. It was his seventh consecutive trophy – out of seven.
But following Claude Puel’s sacking, Leicester have moved quickly to replace the loss of the Frenchman by appointing Rodgers – and have replaced him by bringing Neil Lennon back until the end of the season.
Former Celtic stars Balde and Hartson reacted on Twitter, with both as frustrated as the fans given that Rodgers has gone back on comments he has previously made about Celtic being his “dream job”.
Back in April 2018 after being linked with a move to Arsenal, Rodgers had told TalkSPORT that he was “so happy at Celtic” before stating he was in the “best job in the world”.
Lennon will take charge of the side on Wednesday as the club travel to Tynecastle to take on Hearts, as they look to extend their eight-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
