The result also relieves some pressure off Slaven Bilic who was reportedly given two home matches to save his West Ham job.
Bobby Zamora, who has played for both Tottenham and West Ham, took to Twitter to express his reaction. He hailed the result as a “great win” and showered praise on Mark Noble.
Former West Ham goalkeeper David James also said it was a big win for West Ham, and was impressed with the electric atmosphere inside the London stadium.
With this victory, West Ham have moved to 9th in the Premier League, although they have played three more games than Southampton.
The defeat served a hammer blow to Tottenham’s title chances. Mathematically, Spurs are still in contention, but it leaves Chelsea only two wins away from lifting the Premiership.
