Pedro Caixinha’s Glasgow Rangers will face St Johnstone away from Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Friday.
Rangers will return to action on Friday evening when they take on St Johnstone away from home at McDiarmid Park in Perth in the Scottish Premiership.
Pedro Caixinha’s side will head into the match on the back of a 4-1 victory over Hamilton Academical away from home at the SuperSeal Stadium in the league.
The win against Hamilton saw Rangers bounce back from the 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby.
One negative from Rangers’ win against Hamilton last month was the sending-off of Ryan Jack in the 54th minute.
The 25-year-old Scottish defensive midfielder is an important player for the Gers, and it will be interesting to see who replaced him in the starting lineup against St Johnstone.
Rangers legend Bobby Russell believes that Jason Holt could be that man. The 24-year-old midfielder has struggled to play regularly for the Gers so far this season, but the 60-year-old believes that the former Heart of Midlothian star would do a good job against St Johnstone.
“I know Jason Holt is not a sitting playing but he is very mobile and he gets into good positions,” Russell told Herald Scotland. “He has his own qualities, although he is a different type of player.
“I think he could certainly go in there and do a job. He has shown that he is more than capable.”
