Celtic and Rangers entertained the masses once more as they played out a fiery Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

For the fourth time this season, Celtic got the better of the Ibrox club by securing a 1-0 victory over Rangers to seal their second trophy of the season.

Philippe Clement was appointed Rangers boss in October and he is yet to beat Celtic as this latest defeat will hurt the most.

The Gers actually played better during this 90 minutes than they have in many of their other games, but they just couldn’t stop Adam Idah from scoring a 90th-minute winner.

Jack Butland will still be feeling the pain 24 hours after the match because he parried Paulo Bernardo’s shot straight into the path of the Irishman and he didn’t hesitate to punish his opponents.

But before Celtic could score, Rangers did have the ball in the back of the net when Abdallah Sima scored from a corner, but it was ruled out after a VAR check.

It was judged that goalkeeper Joe Hart was fouled by Nico Raskin, with on-field referee Nick Walsh agreeing and overturning the goal.

Rangers fans and their manager Clement weren’t happy with that call and voiced their concern after the full-time whistle.

But ex-referee Bobby Madden backed the decision to disallow the goal, even if Hart should have been ’stronger’ when trying to do his own job, as he told BBC Sport.

Abdallah Sima’s disallowed goal for Rangers against Celtic

“You see evidence here, it’s a push,” said Madden. “You can argue all day that the goalkeeper should be stronger but it is a push.

“Correctly disallowed. No goal.”

Brendan Rodgers asserts Celtic dominance over Rangers again

During the Irishman’s first spell as Celtic boss, he dominated and decimated everything that came his way, including winning Trebles for fun.

Steven Gerrard won an unbeaten league title behind closed doors, but Ange Postecoglou came in and wiped the floor again.

And now Brendan Rodgers, in an indifferent season for the Bhoys, has delivered the title again and the Scottish Cup.

You just feel normal service will resume next season and Celtic will just continue to dominate even further.
