Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool got exactly what they needed on Sunday evening as they beat Chelsea 2-0 at Anfield, just hours after Manchester City had beaten Crystal Palace 3-1.
City avoided a potential banana skin by claiming a comfortable win at Selhurst Park, and it was then up to Liverpool to respond with a win of their own against Chelsea.
A frustrating first half left the Anfield crowd a little nervous, but Jordan Henderson stood up a fine cross to the back post for Sadio Mane to head home the opening goal.
Mohamed Salah quickly made it 2-0, hammering a stunning left-footed drive into the top corner of the net, securing an all-important win for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Liverpool remain two points clear at the top of the Premier League table, but City have a game in hand, meaning the title race is hanging in the balance as things stand.
With that win though, Liverpool exorcised some of the demons from their 2014 defeat to Chelsea, in which they were chasing the title, but captain Steven Gerrard slipped, allowing Demba Ba to score in a damaging defeat for the Reds.

There were no such errors this time, but Chelsea had tweeted out a video of the incident before the game, which somewhat came back to bite them at full time.
Liverpool teenager Bobby Duncan – the cousin of Gerrard – took to Twitter to mock the post, sarcastically wishing Chelsea a safe trip back to London having failed to prevent a Reds win, five years since ruining Liverpool’s title hopes.
