Former Ajax youngster Boban Lazic appears to be on trial with Leeds United.
Leeds United have been very busy in the summer transfer window but, despite completing nine signings already, the work is not over just yet.
Former Ajax prospect Boban Lazic posted a photo on Instagram of himself in a Leeds training kit on Monday, sparking speculation that the 23-year-old is on trial at Elland Road.
Thomas Christiansen could have another new player on his hands
Netting four goals in 32 games in the Dutch second division with FC Oss last season but is now without a club, meaning that the journeyman youngster will be on the move again this summer with Leeds a potential destination.
“I can already sign but I want to get to know the club and the coach (Thomas Christiansen) first. That’s why I’m going to train with them a few times first,” said the former Dutch Under-17 international, who has also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at youth level.
Why Lazic would need to be persuaded to kick-start his career at Leeds is anyone’s guess. The Whites represent an excellent opportunity for a player who hasn’t lived up to expectations since winning the prestigious NextGen series with Ajax in 2012 alongside Everton new boy Davy Klaassen and former Middlesbrough winger Viktor Fischer.
Klaassen captained Ajax last season as they lost the Europa League final to Manchester United
Lazic was released by Ajax two years later and struggled to make an impression at Greek giants Olympiakos either, leading him back to his homeland with PEC Zwolle and eventually Oss.
A right winger by trade, Lazic would fight Hadi Sacko, who made last season’s loan from Sporting Lisbon permanent this summer, for a place in Christiansen’s side.
