Glasgow Rangers manager Graeme Murty will remain in charge of the Ibrox club until the end of the season.
Murty will be in charge of Scottish Premiership giants Rangers until the end of the season.
Recent results for the Gers have not been great, with the team losing the Old Firm derby 3-2 to Celtic at Ibrox before going down 1-0 to Kilmarnock at home in the Scottish Premiership this past weekend.
Former Rangers star Malcolm, who started his professional club career at the Gers and could operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, has suggested that Murty should remain in charge of the first team beyond the summer of 2018.
Malcolm told The Herald: “I would stick with Graeme. There have been a few disappointing results, especially at home, but that’s just where we are right now.
“He has definitely improved things, and he should be given the chance to take that on.
“If another manager comes in, he will likely want to bring his own players, and will it be feasible to bed in another new set of players in time to challenge Celtic for the league?
“It’s up to the board of course, but if Graeme can get second in the league and knock Celtic out of the cup then he will give himself a great chance.”
Have patience
Murty is a good and talented young manager, and he is doing quite well for Rangers at the moment.
True, there have been some results under him that have not been good, but overall the performances have been very encouraging.
It would make sense for Rangers to stick with Murty and give him one full season at least.
