Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers have brought Gers duo Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic to Ibrox this summer.
Goldson has joined Rangers from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £3 million.
Katic has also moved to Rangers this summer, with the Gers paying Slaven Belupo a transfer fee of £2 million in order to secure the services of the 21-year-old Croatia international central defender, as reported by Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old and the 21-year-old central defenders will be aiming to form a formidable partnership for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at the back.
Former Rangers star Malcolm, who was on the books of the Ibrox club from 1997 until 2006, has warned the two new summer signings not to make mistakes.
Malcolm told The Glasgow Evening Times: “It is going to be the same for Connor and Nikola as it was for Bruno. They are playing in a position where there is no mercy if you make a mistake.
“But they are young and hungry and the fact that a few clubs were keen to sign Connor is a good sign for me. Hopefully they can work hard and form a good partnership at the back and do well.”
Defence key for Rangers
Rangers were brilliant going on the attack last season, but the Glasgow giants conceded far too many goals than they should have.
Defence is an area that the Ibrox club need to improve upon, and the Scottish Premiership club’s fans will hope that Goldson and Katic are up to the task.
