Aston Villa fans have seen the funny side to Troy Deeney’s Twitter message after his Watford side thumped Birmingham City 3-0 in the Championship on Saturday.
The boyhood Blues fan didn’t feature in the match, but he did post on his Twitter account ‘just what the doctor ordered’.
Given that result further dents Birmingham City’s chances of staying in England’s second-tier, Villa fans were quick to point that out.
The Villa Park faithful have sarcastically claimed that Deeney is a Blues fan despite Watford’s result yesterday sending Lee Bowyer back down to earth.
Bowyer replaced Aitor Karanka this week to try and get Birmingham out of their current mess, where they are hovering over the drop zone.
It all started in a rosy fashion with the former midfielder picking up all three points in his first game in charge in midweek, but once again, they have come crashing down.
If Birmingham are relegated then Deeney has played his part because he scored an 85th-minute winner at St Andrew’s in December.
Either way, it’s looking like worrying times for those in Blue and the Villa fans are certainly loving it.
