Leeds United have landed Thomas Christiansen as their new manager.

According to the Daily Mail, new Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen blew Andrea Radrizzani away in his interview for the job, leading the Italian to completely call off the club’s search for a new boss.

The Whites saw Garry Monk hand in his resignation last month, with the 38-year-old departing Elland Road after less than a year in the job, in which he had guided Leeds to seventh place in the Championship table.

Monk has now moved on to Middlesbrough, and Radrizzani – who took sole ownership of the club from Massimo Cellino last month – was faced with his first big call as he looked for a new manager.

Whilst a host of names – from Aitor Karanka to Alan Pardew – were touted for the job, Leeds have pulled a manager out from left field, as Thomas Christiansen has been appointed as the club’s new boss.

Christiansen, 44, was an assistant at Al Jazira before becoming AEK Larnaca boss in 2014, and two strong years there earned him the APOEL Nicosia job last summer. Despite taking the club to the last 16 of the Europa League with a shock win over Athletic Bilbao and winning the Cypriot First Division title, Christiansen’s contract wasn’t renewed earlier this summer, making him a free agent.

Now, the former Barcelona striker is heading to Elland Road, and the Daily Mail claim that he completely blew Leeds owner Radrizzani away during his interview for the job in Madrid this week.

Radrizzani is alleged to have responded by completely calling off Leeds’ search for a new manager, telling colleagues that Christiansen was the man for the job having been so thorough in his presentation.

Only time will tell whether Radrizzani has made the right call, but with a title win and Europa League experience under his belt, Christiansen could be a smart – if unexpected – choice for the job at Elland Road.
