Have Norwich City just dropped a hint regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s Oliver Skipp?
The 20-year-old enjoyed a sublime season-long loan at Norwich from Spurs during the 2020-21 campaign and helped the Canaries to Premier League promotion.
Skipp, who began his career at Tottenham and has emerged as a real star of the future, suffered a broken foot on the last day of the season but still started 44 of City’s 46 Championship games during his stint at Carrow Road, illustrating how important he was to the cause.
And understandably, a lot of Norwich fans want him back for next season, but that may be futile.
On Tuesday, the club posted a video compilation of their former loanee on Twitter and thanked him for his contribution which, at the moment, seems very much like Tottenham want him back.
Here’s how some City fans responded to the compilation on social media:
Ultimately, Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy will have the final say on whether Skipp has a role to play in the North Londoners’ senior side next season.
Levy, like the Tottenham supporters, may want to see the Hotspur Way academy gem build on his 15 Premier League appearances so far and make waves in the first team, like Harry Kane did before him.
The England Under-21 international has such a bright future and it’ll be fascinating to see whether he is retained next term or loaned out again.
But with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko potentially leaving North London, promoting Skipp makes sense rather than signing somebody else and that might well be in Levy’s thinking.
