Rangers recruitment chief Frank McParland is reportedly set to quit Ibrox.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers Head of Recruitment Frank McParland is set to quit the club over budget restrictions.

McParland was snapped up from Burnley in October 2015 after just five months in the job at Turf Moor, as he chose to reunite with manager Mark Warburton, having worked together at Brentford.

McParland has been charged with the task of overseeing recruitment at Ibrox over the last three transfer windows, but it’s been a mixed bag to say the least.

In January 2016, Rangers landed Polish goalkeeper Maciej Gostomski – who never played a game for the club – winger Billy King, who returned to Hearts at the end of his loan deal and attacker Michael O’Halloran, who has blown hot and cold since his move to Ibrox, whilst Harry Forrester was certainly a Warburton signing having worked together at Brentford and Watford.

Pre-contract deals for Matt Crooks and Josh Windass have been a miss and a hit so far respectively, but the summer business has left a lot to be desired, with Joey Barton released after just eight games and veterans Philippe Senderos and Niko Kranjcar unable to make an impact this season either through performances or injury.

Joe Garner has yet to repay his transfer fee, Matt Gilks has already left the club for Wigan Athletic, whilst Jordan Rossiter has spent most of the season out injured and Joe Dodoo has only shown glimpses of his quality.

After only being restricted to loan deals for Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman in January, along with goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, who was purchased from Port Vale as a replacement for Gilks, it seems that McParland is becoming disillusioned with life at Ibrox.

The Scottish Sun report that McParland is ready to leave the club amid questions over his transfer record and a lack of money to spend, which would be a huge blow for manager Warburton.

The Gers boss is under pressure already, and losing one of his trusted sidekicks would be a crushing blow, with McParland allegedly wanted by clubs back in England too.
