Brendan Rodgers worked with Kieran Tierney at Celtic, and there is no surprise that the Leicester City manager reportedly wants to sign the Arsenal left-back.
In June, 90min reported that Arsenal are ready to sell Tierney in the summer transfer window and are willing to take a loss on the player they signed from Celtic in the summer of 2019 for £25 million.
The report claimed that Leicester manager Rodgers wants to sign the 23-year-old, having worked with him at Celtic.
It was under the former Liverpool boss that the Scotland international developed into one of the best young left-backs in the world, and he would flourish under him at Leicester.
However, Rodgers’s reported plan to sign Tierney has taken a blow, with Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta making it clear that he will not sell the former Celtic star this summer.
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Tierney: “He is not going anywhere. I really like him. I am very impressed with him.”
Arsenal stay
Tierney has had injury problems this season, but the left-back has been superb for Arsenal in recent games and has also shown his versatility by playing in a more advanced position.
The 23-year-old has the potential to be a world-class left-back, and it is very sensible of Arteta to keep hold of him.
