Reported Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Oguzhan Ozyakup looks set to stay at Besiktas.
Besiktas president Fikret Orman has told The Sun that Oguzhan Ozyakup will not leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Orman has also stated that Ozyakup will be handed a new contract. The 24-year-old Turkey international midfielder has been on the books of Besiktas since 2012 and has a contract with the Turkish club until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
“There are many stories about Oguzhan’s possible transfer to Europe,” Orman told The Sun. “But we did not receive such an offer.
“Oguzhan’s contract will be extended. We only need to add the signatures. It will be for another five years.”
Blow for Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur
Orman’s comments about handing Ozyakup a new deal will come as a blow for North London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Both the Gunners and Spurs have been linked with a move for the midfielder. While The Sun has credited Arsenal with interest in the player they let go in 2012, The Express has claimed of Tottenham’s interest in the Turkey international.
It seems that Besiktas are keen on keeping hold of Ozyakup, and it does look as though Arsenal and Tottenham will have to look elsewhere if they want a midfielder of his ilk.
