Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are calling on their club to sign Donny van de Beek this summer.
The 23-year-old emerged as a hot property on the European scene after helping Ajax to the semi-final of the Champions League during the 2018-19 campaign.
But despite plenty of speculation about his future, Van de Beek, linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, remains in Amsterdam for now.
Arsenal could and probably should be in the market for a number 10 this summer.
Mesut Ozil looks like he might be on borrowed time, while the Gunners are unlikely to keep Real Madrid-owned Dani Ceballos in North London, with Manchester City reportedly in the running [The Express].
As a result, Arsenal fans on Twitter have been debating whether Van de Beek – who is going out with the daughter of club icon Dennis Bergkamp – would be a good addition, and here’s what they’ve been saying:
As mentioned, United are said to be interested in the Dutchman too, but the success of Bruno Fernandes at the Theatre of Dreams probably means that he isn’t as needed there as Van de Beek is at Arsenal.
It’s hard to say definitively what would be a good transfer but, if the money’s right, Van de Beek is young enough to have many good years at the Emirates Stadium, if he were to hit the ground running.
