Blackpool have warned Barnsley they will not sell midfielder Brad Potts for anything less than £750,000 after turning down an earlier bid for his services, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Barnsley have identified Potts as one of their top transfer targets this summer as they look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season.

Potts has impressed at Blackpool since joining the club from Carlisle United in the summer of 2015.

The 23-year-old was instrumental in helping Blackpool win promotion from League Two last season scoring one and creating the other in the 2-1 win over Exeter City at Wembley in the play-off final.

Potts scored 13 goals and contributed 12 assists last season for Blackpool to enhance his reputation as one of the best midfielders in the lower leagues.

Blackpool are determined to keep hold of Potts as they prepare for life back in League One next season and they rejected Barnsley’s offer of £500,000 for the player.

It remains to be seen if Barnsley will come back with an improved offer for Potts before the start of the new season and Blackpool are reluctant to sell him unless the offer meets their asking price.
