Blackburn Rovers have reportedly made a last-ditch contract offer to stop Ben Brereton Diaz from leaving at the end of the season, with Everton and Leeds United linked with the forward.
According to the Sun, the Championship side have offered the Chilean international a one-year contract worth £30,000-a-week in an attempt to stop Brereton Diaz from departing Ewood Park, with the attacker’s current deal set to expire this summer.
As per the report, La Liga side Villarreal are eyeing a move to sign Brereton Diaz for free should the forward leave Blackburn at the end of the season, with Everton and Leeds also chasing the 23-year-old Championship superstar ahead of the summer.
One of the best attackers in the English second-tier over the last two seasons, Brereton Diaz has been set to leave Blackburn over the last 18 months, though despite plenty of interest and the winger’s contract situation, the Stoke-born forward has never been cashed in on by Rovers.

Indeed, the Lancashire side have done well to keep hold of Brereton Diaz over the last few transfer windows. However, this summer looks set to be the time when the attacker leaves for good, even with this new contract offer now on the table for the 23-year-old.
Whilst £30,000-a-week is an incredible salary for the Championship, the South American international knows that he can win a better contract offer anywhere beyond Blackburn, with Brereton Diaz more than within his right to reject this latest deal from Rovers.
Brereton Diaz snubbing Blackburn contract will be a wise decision

Whilst there is an outside chance that Blackburn can get promoted this season, the odds are still very much against Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side, with Brereton Diaz likely to move on from Rovers regardless of what happens at the end of this campaign.
With the forward clearly making his intentions known, Brereton Diaz will be wise to formally reject Blackburn’s latest contract offer, with a move to the Premier League or La Liga a wise decision from the attacker, who is ready to make that next level.
