Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nyambe is close to signing a new deal at Ewood Park, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

The 19-year-old has come through the ranks at Blackburn and he is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at Ewood Park.

Nyambe, who can play anywhere across the back four, made his debut for Blackburn in the League Cup in August 2015 at the age of 17.

The Namibia-born youngster really established himself as a regular under Owen Coyle and Tony Mowbray last season, making 28 appearances for the first-team playing at right-back or right wing-back.

Nyambe impressed for Blackburn last season despite their relegation from the Championship and a number of clubs higher up the football pyramid have been monitoring his situation.

Nyambe is entering the final year of his contract at Ewood Park and the club are keen to secure his future on a new long-term deal and in the process fend off any interest from other clubs.

Rovers boss Mowbray is keen to keep of Nyambe as he sees him playing a vital role in his plans as he looks to win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
