After a fleeting return to Newcastle United, Adam Armstrong has secured another loan move away from the club.

It was announced today that the forward has joined Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan for the rest of the season, as reported by BBC Sport.

Armstrong is certainly no stranger to a loan spell, having initially excelled with Coventry City in League One during the 2015/16 season as he scored 20 goals in 40 games.

Since then he has had stints with Barnsley and Bolton Wanderers in the Championship but has struggled to find the net with regularity and there is an overriding feeling that this spell with Blackburn could represent Armstrong’s final opportunity to demonstrate that he can still be a success at Newcastle.

Capable of playing up front or out wide, Armstrong is able to burst past opponents with ease, although it has often been the case in the Championship that his end product has been lacking.

Armstrong has made 21 senior appearances for Newcastle in total, but, at the age of 20, a concrete decision on his future at the club will soon have to be made.

How he fares during this loan spell could go a long way towards determining whether Armstrong is a success at Newcastle or not.
