Norwich City may be on the verge of promotion from the Championship and in pole position for the title but Blackburn Rovers midfielder Lewis Travis is determined to rain on the Canaries’ parade on Saturday night.

Daniel Farke’s charges are currently six points clear of third-placed Leeds United, which means just one point in their 45th league fixture will see them mathematically assured of a top-two place and thus promotion to the Premier League.

Second-placed Sheffield United, meanwhile, are three points behind, and they face Ipswich Town at 5:15pm on Saturday, so Norwich could have a clearer idea as to what they will be celebrating ahead of their 7:45pm kickoff, as well as what else they’ll be playing for against Rovers.

Travis, however, is in no mood to allow the Canaries to celebrate at his side’s expense, and as such has banged the drum ahead of Saturday’s late game, in conversation with the official Blackburn website.

NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND - JANUARY 05:

“Everybody in the team wants to test themselves against the best players and it’s a game we’re all looking forward to,” said the 21-year-old.

“We want to win the game, we’re all competitive. We’ll go there to ruin their party. A win will give us lots of confidence going into next season, beating anyone in the top six, let alone a team at the top of the league like Norwich.”

Blackburn are currently 14th in the table but they could finish as high as eighth depending on how the next two matchdays pan out, though with such bellicose comments from Travis, he may just have done Farke’s team talk for him.
