Blackburn Rovers lost 3-2 to Brighton Hove Albion at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers were consigned to their eleventh defeat of the season, as Brighton Hove Albion came out 3-2 winners at Ewood Park.

Ex-Rovers defender Shane Duffy opened the scoring before Dale Stephens doubled the visitors’ lead. Rovers pulled one back through Sam Gallagher, but Gordon Greer’s dismissal for a second yellow made matters worse for Owen Coyle’s men.

Brighton took advantage of their man advantage, as Glenn Murray followed in from Lewis Dunk’s long-range effort to chip the ball over Blackburn keeper Jason Steele. Gallagher did pull one back for Rovers in 94th minute but it proved to be a consolation goal for the hosts.

Blackburn’s second successive 3-2 defeat leaves them 22nd in the Championship table. Owen Coyle’s side continue to ship goals and currently have the second worst defensive record in the league, with 34 goals conceded.

Rovers’ busy winter schedule continues with games against Reading, Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Newcastle United to come in the next three weeks. It might be a make-or-break period for Blackburn manager Owen Coyle, who has been unable to turn things around in his six months in charge.

However, to many Rovers’ supporters the blame also rests at the Venky’s door. Blackburn’s owners have overseen a devastating decline in the club’s fortunes since they took over the club in 2010.

Some Blackburn supporters took to Twitter after the Brighton defeat to vent their frustration at both the Venky’s and Coyle.
