The Congolese international believes that he can complete the challenge set to him by his teammate.
Speaking on the club’s website Yannick Bolasie revealed that he has been tasked with finding his shooting boots by close friend and teammate Romelu Lukaku.
Bolasie arrived from Crystal Palace in the summer in a big money transfer and has continued the fine form that earned him a move to Goodison Park.
The Congolese international is confident that he can reach the 10-goal target set by Lukaku, who scored his 50 Premier League goal in Sunday afternoon’s game with West Ham.
The Belgium international who has scored six goals in eight games for the Toffees this season has challenged his mate to reach double figures this campaign.
Bolasie would have been forgiven for thinking that he got off the mark in Everton’s 3-1 over Middlesborough, when his cross-come-shot found the net until Lukaku claimed the goal for himself, insisting that he touched the ball.
Though he did eventually manage to score his first goal with an equaliser against newly-promoted Burnley last week, but that was not enough to earn Everton a point as the Clarets secured all three with a late winner.
“I heard something [about the target] that is floating about!” Bolasie said.
“I think it was more of a joke between Rom, myself and the gaffer. But knowing Rom, he’s a serious guy so probably meant it seriously!
He added: “Personally speaking, why can’t I do it? It is certainly achievable, especially considering the way we play. That will definitely help me score goals.
“It was nice to get off the mark at Burnley. Even though it wasn’t a positive result and that dampened it a bit, it was great to score and I’m really looking forward to the West Ham game now to hopefully carry that on.”
