Now 38 years old, 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic is clearly entering the final phase of his career.
Djokovic has continued to find ways to win in 2025, though. He reached the semifinals at all four Grand Slams and also captured his 100th career title by beating Hubert Hurkacz in the Geneva Open final.

The world number one and two appear ready to dominate the sport for years to come, much like Djokovic and his fellow Big Three members did before them.
With more Grand Slam titles than either Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer, many fans consider Djokovic the greatest of all time—a view shared by Borg.
“Djokovic for me is the greatest player who has ever played this game,” he said. “And then second place is Federer and Nadal—same spot.”
Bjorn Borg hopes Djokovic has at least another year left
When asked about Djokovic’s future in the sport, Borg told Sky Sports that he hoped the Serb would carry on playing into 2026.
“He is 38 years old, it’s going to be tough with [Jannik] Sinner and [Carlos] Alcaraz and some other players too, but still, he can do it,” said Borg.
“I hope he has the motivation to play at least another year.”
Even at his age, Djokovic continues to perform at a high level. In 2025, all of his Grand Slam losses came against players ranked inside the top three in the world.
Borg also spoke about Alcaraz and Sinner, pointing out how much they’ve added to the sport since taking over from tennis’ previous generation of stars.
“The rivalry with [Novak] Djokovic, [Roger] Federer and [Rafael] Nadal, unbelievable matches. Then they said when they stepped away what is going to happen with tennis today?” said Borg.
“Now you have these two great players Sinner and Alcaraz; the matches they play are unbelievable, the tennis they play is unbelievable. It’s so great for tennis as a sport.”
The current world number one and two appear ready to dominate men’s tennis for years to come – much like Djokovic and his Big Three rivals did before them.
Borg also gave his view on where Novak stands in relation to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal when talking about who should be considered men’s G.O.A.T., siding with the Serb this time.
“Djokovic for me is the greatest player who ever played the game. And then second place is Federer/Nadal – tied.”
