According to a report in El Gol Digital today, Sergio Reguilon wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.
It has been reported by the Spanish news outlet (11am, March 20, 2021) that Sevilla are looking at Reguilon as a potential alternative to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso.
The 24-year-old Spain international left-back joined Spurs from Real Madrid only last summer, but he is reported to have ‘fallen into an unstable project’.
The report has added that Reguilon’s ‘wish is to return to Spain’, and that Spurs do not rule out the prospect of selling him in the summer of 2021.
Strange claim
While it is true that Tottenham are not having the best of seasons, it is hard to see the North London club sell the 24-year-old this summer.
After all, the Spain international is the first-choice left-back at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has been one of the better players in the team.
According to WhoScored, the left-back has provided three assists in 17 Premier League games and has played four times in the Europa League.
Reguilon comes across as someone who is very happy at Spurs, and there have been no indications yet – until this report – that he wants to move back to Spain.
True, the left-back had a successful loan spell at Sevilla from Madrid last season, winning the Europa League and finishing in the top four of the La Liga table, but Spurs are a bigger club in a bigger and richer league.
