Tottenham are said to be interested in hiring Ruben Amorim as their next manager after deciding to sack Antonio Conte.
It was the Guardian who revealed back in March that the 38-year-old is an option for Spurs as they look to replace the Italian, after building a strong reputation for himself at Sporting Lisbon.
Now – however – a journalist has criticised Amorim for his actions.
What’s the story?
Well, the Portuguese tactician has been questioned for his “bizarre man management” of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
The 19-year-old wonderkid, who already has 14 caps for Ghana to his name, has seen his campaign disrupted by Amorim following an outstanding hat-trick against Ajax in the UEFA Youth League.
Issahaku was rewarded for his efforts with four minutes of senior action in the 2-2 UEFA Europa League draw against Arsenal, although that outing meant he was no longer allowed to feature in the UEFA Youth League.
The teenager was then left on the bench for the second leg at the Emirates Stadium, as well as both legs of the Quarter-Final against Juventus, which Sporting Lisbon lost 2-1 on aggregate.
That means Issahaku has effectively been taken away from his UEFA Youth League campaign – which he seemed to be enjoying – for basically no reason.
After explaining the situation, journalist Zach Lowy wrote on Twitter: “The Ghanaian is yet another example of Amorim’s bizarre man management.”
Amorim has forged an impressive reputation for himself in Lisbon, hence why Tottenham – as well as Chelsea – are interested in his services.
However, this will be one reason for both Spurs and the Blues to be cautious.
Amorim could help one Tottenham man shine
If Spurs do end up hiring Amorim, we doubt Issahaku would want to follow him to N17 – however, there may be one player who enjoys seeing him in north London. Pedro Porro.

The Spain international worked with Amorim at Sporting Lisbon, enjoying himself with 12 goals and 20 assists in 98 appearances from right-back.
Porro clearly suited Amorim’s tactical setup, so if the pair are reunited at Tottenham, the Spaniard could see his game rise to another level.
