Graham Roberts says it’s ‘strange’ and ‘bizarre’ that Gary Lineker is calling for Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

It has been well-documented that Bayern Munich are keen to sign the 30-year-old – Daniel Levy has been sent a final proposal, but he is yet to respond to the German team.

But when former Tottenham player and Match of the Day host, Gary Lineker, suggested that it’s best that Harry Kane should leave and that he thinks ‘they will make it happen’, it didn’t sit well with Graham Roberts.

He posted on Twitter that it’s all good wishing Kane ‘the very best’, but he can’t understand why a club legend is so eager for him to go.

The dream scenario for Spurs fans is for their star striker signs a new deal, but they know that won’t happen this summer, so that leaves Levy in a tricky situation – Jurgen Klinsmann dropped a bombshell on Kane’s future

Either way, whilst the England captain could yet leave, Roberts doesn’t like the noise coming from certain individuals about Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer.

“Strange thing for a Spurs legend to say,” said Roberts. “We all would wish Harry all the very best and he deserves any success and will forever be a Tottenham legend, if not one of our greatest of all time.

“But I don’t get a former Spurs legend wishing the best player to leave bizarre.”

Kane captains Tottenham

Whilst all the transfer noise around Kane goes on, he wore the captain’s armband during their pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday.

It was Ange Postecoglou’s first unofficial home game of his tenure.

You would imagine, if Kane stays put, then he will replace Hugo Lloris as the skipper for the forthcoming season.

But you can’t exactly make that call now if he ends up heading to Munich in a few weeks.
