Leeds United sold star youngster Lewis Cook to Bournemouth at the weekend, with the Cherries announcing the move on their official website.
Cook’s arrival is a major coup for the Premier League side, and a big loss for Leeds, who were hoping this year to finally mount a promotion charge.

With it still being just July, there is no reason to be too despondent yet if you are a Leeds fan, especially when taking a look back at what Lewis Cook said about new head coach Garry Monk just one month ago.
Speaking to the Leeds club website, Cook said: “I think it’s a great appointment for the club – he’s the right man for the job I think.
“He’s got a lot of experience managing and playing in the higher leagues. I’m sure he’ll do well. It excites you – I know he wants us to score a lot of goals, create a lot of opportunities and play exciting football. It should be fun for us and fun for the fans.
“I think we’ve got a really good squad at Leeds which should be higher in the table and pushing for promotion. Hopefully, with the right guidance and the right attitude, we can push to try and get there. We all can’t wait for it all to start again and push for a good season.”

Cook’s comments are bittersweet as they really show that the midfielder appeared to be genuinely looking forward to the upcoming season.
The reality of modern football is that money talks and his contract situation gave Leeds reason to sell while they could.
Yet there may always be a question in his mind over what might have been, especially if Leeds go on to produce the type of season without him that Cook hoped they could with him under Monk.
