Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Callum Rowe had been released from the Academy.
The Villans released their list of those who had been retained, and those who had been released, earlier today.
Among the names to be let go was Rowe, which has shocked some Aston Villa fans.
The 21-year-old impressed earlier this season when Dean Smith had no choice but to play the Under-23’s against Liverpool in the FA Cup.
Rowe, who operates as a left-back, played 75 minutes at Villa Park that day, as the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané lined up against him.
The youngster did well, and even grabbed the assist for Louie Barry’s brilliant goal which put Aston Villa’s youngsters 1-0 up.
Rowe simply didn’t get enough chances this season
Sadly, it doesn’t sound as if Rowe has kicked on from that brilliant performance against Jürgen Klopp’s men.
In addition to his FA Cup display, Rowe only made four Premier League 2 appearances this season, as well as one appearance in the EFL Trophy.
By the sounds of it, he simply didn’t get enough game time to show what he can do.
However, if his display against Liverpool is anything to go by, the defender won’t be without a club for too long.
