Michael Brown has admitted to Sky Sports News that he is shocked upon hearing rumours that Paulo Fonseca will join Tottenham Hotspur.
Gianluca Di Marzio says that Fonseca is set to arrive at Tottenham in the very near future, and pen a three year deal.
Spurs have now been without a manager for 52 days, but some fans have expressed frustration about Fonseca’s seemingly impending arrival.
The Portuguese boss doesn’t look the most ambitious of targets, compared to who Tottenham have previously been linked with.
And Brown has admitted that he is very surprised to see his former side move for the 48-year-old.
“A person who is not in a role doesn’t look as attractive as somebody who has been in the Premier League and has titles under his belt,” Brown said.
“It’s going to be a really difficult situation. I’m looking forward to seeing the club’s stance on it. Are we going to get a line from them? What sort of funding is going to be there to improve this squad?

“It has come as a little bit of a shock. Last week reporting different targets, and is Daniel Levy running out of these options?”
Shock arrival
Fonseca will have to start quickly at Tottenham, if he does sign, otherwise the pressure could quickly rise on him.
His Roma side did at least play some attractive football, even if results weren’t always the most convincing.
There is a feeling that Fonseca may have to work on developing what Tottenham currently have, rather than spending lavish funds.
Spurs aren’t though to be loaded with money and while Fonseca is likely to be allowed to make a few additions, a full scale overhaul of the squad appears doubtful.
