Ian Rush has taken to Instagram to react after Liverpool beat Everton 4-1 in the Merseyside derby last night, and Mohamed Salah was on his mind.
What’s the story?
Well, Rush had a bit of a moan after Salah scored twice against the Toffees, as he was upset with the Egyptian finishing seventh in the Ballon d’Or.
Rush feels the fact that Liverpool’s 29-year-old talisman is consistently delivering the goods in Europe’s toughest league should’ve been taken into account.
The 60-year-old conceded that Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski deserved to finish in the top two, but was horrified with Salah finishing seventh.
You can see what Rush wrote on Instagram below.
We agree with every word.
If Salah is the seventh best player on the planet, then the six who are ahead of him must be seriously special.
Liverpool and Mohamed Salah shouldn’t worry about the Ballon d’Or

Of course, it must’ve been disappointing for Salah to see his name in seventh, but he needn’t worry – the Ballon d’Or has lost its credibility.
The fact that Denmark defender Simon Kjær was voted as the 18th best player on the planet pretty much sums it up.
Of course, it was a nice gesture after Kjær helped to save Christian Eriksen’s life, but it just goes to show that the Ballon d’Or has become a popularity contest.

In truth, the fact Jorginho finished third is an even more damning indictment on the credibility of the Ballon d’Or.
In what world is the Chelsea man better than Salah?
In our view, the Liverpool No.11 shouldn’t worry about it too much, especially when there are clear flaws in the system.
