
Some Leeds United fans on social media have been reacting after the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that they’re getting closer to signing Leo Hjelde from Celtic.
The defender would join the Whites as an extra centre-back option for Mark Jackson’s U23s, and given the amount of potential he seems to possess he may be a future first-team star at Elland Road.
Indeed, Hjelde has been described as ‘the next van Dijk’ in the past, and praise doesn’t get much higher than that, especially for a centre-back.
Leeds’ U23s have been brilliant in recent years under both Carlos Corberan and Jackson, and if Hjelde comes in they may continue being one of the best youth outfits in the country.
Leeds may be going through a brilliant period under Marcelo Bielsa, but the future may be even brighter if Hjelde joins the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood in the Whites’ U23s.
