Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will have to pay £40 million to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, according to The Express.

What’s the story?

The Express have reported that Liverpool are keen on signing Bissouma from Premier League rivals Brighton before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday.

The former Premier League champions have ‘made an official enquiry’ for the 24-year-old Mali international.

Brighton reportedly want £40 million for Bissouma.

Should Liverpool pay £40m for Bissouma?

Since Brighton sold Ben White to Arsenal for £50 million earlier this summer, the Seagulls are under no financial pressure to cash in one another player now.

Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards is unlikely to get the 24-year-old for anything less than £40 million.

So, should the Reds pay that amount?

Arsenal legend Ian Wright said on Wrighty’s House Podcast this week that the midfielder is “sensational” and “tailor-made for Liverpool”.

Harvey Elliott is doing well in midfield despite being a winger by trade, but he is very young and the Reds could do with a box-to-box combative midfielder like Georginio Wijnaldum, who left for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Bissouma is only 24, which means that he will develop and progress as a footballer even further.
