Former Liverpool defender Igor Biscan has told BetStars that Domagoj Vida would be a good signing for his old club, after the Reds reportedly tabled an offer for the Croatia defender.

Turkish outlet A Spor claim Liverpool have tabled a bid of £12million to land the Croatian star, who has impressed in Russia for his country as they reach the last four of the World Cup.

Vida, who only joined Besiktas in January, has featured in four of Belgium’s five World Cup outings – resting the final group game against Iceland and scoring in the quarter final against Russia.

Biscan, who earned 15 caps for his country, said that he rates Vida highly and believes that the powerful defender would be a good addition to Liverpool’s side – especially with Dejan Lovren currently plying his trade at Anfield.

“Domagoj Vida is a great player and a great centre-back because of his size and his mobility,” Biscan said. “He brings a lot to a team and helps create great team spirit. His positioning and reading of the game is really good.

“He also scores a lot from set-pieces so he can guarantee at least five goals per season, which is a great trait to have as a centre-back. He would be a great addition to this Liverpool side.”

Vida has impressed since his move to Besiktas, starring alongside Pepe but could now be on the move again this summer with his performances at the World Cup drumming up huge interest.

Liverpool have plenty of options at centre-back in Lovren, Joel Matip, Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez, but signing Vida would given the Reds another excellent option at the heart of their defence.
