The midfielder’s bagged Birmingham’s equaliser in the Second City derby.
David Davis has admitted that some of his family were less than happy to see him bag Birmingham City’s equaliser in the Second City derby with Aston Villa last weekend, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The Midlands-born midfielder was selected in Gary Rowett’s starting line-up for the first league meeting between the two clubs in five years.

And he made a massive impact as he cancelled out Gary Gardner’s header which had opened the scoring during the first-half. His effort from just outside the box got St Andrew’s shaking as the slight deflection took the ball past the Villa stopper Pierluigi Gollini.
However, Davis explained that not every member of his family was delighted with his contribution.

“It was the best moment of my career so far, it was unbelievable. To score in a game like that, a derby,” he said, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
“I have got family that are Villa fans and family that are Blues fans, it was nice to represent the club in that manner.

“The Villa side of the family aren’t too happy – but what can they say? I would rather them not be happy than happy.”
All that Davis will surely care about however, is the fact that the point kept his side right in the play-off mix. Although they currently sit seventh, they are level on points with Bristol City, who currently occupy that final spot.
And with games against Huddersfield and the Robins ahead, Davis will be hoping that his strike has given them the momentum ahead of a tricky couple of fixtures.
