Birmingham City’s next Championship game is against rivals Aston Villa.

Birmingham City goalkeeper Adam Legzdins has told the Birmingham Mail he knows just how important the derby game with Aston Villa is this upcoming Sunday.
The 29-year-old spent his youth career at Birmingham, before leaving the club permanently in 2008. Legzdins rejoined the club in 2015, and is looking forward to the clash with Steve Bruce’s side at St Andrew’s.

“The derby has a certain poignancy to it, especially me knowing what the club is like having been here as a youngster,” Legzdins told the Birmingham Mail.
“I know exactly what it means to people at Birmingham City, I helped Denis [Butler] with the kit when I was a scholar in the home and away games.
“I have played in derby matches over the years, it’s a great chance for us to show the fans how much we want to put it right after a bitterly disappointing evening at Burton.”
A 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion on Friday night saw Gary Rowett’s side slip out of the playoff positions, having had a bright start to the Championship season.

The Blues have already suffered one defeat to a local rival, losing 3-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the season, and will be hoping they can ensure it is their fans who taste success this time when they welcome Aston Villa to St Andrew’s.
It will certainly be a tough game for Rowett’s men, with Villa beginning to turn things around under Bruce, who has picked up seven points from his first three games in charge, shaking off that losing mentality that had clouded their start to the campaign.
Coming through the academy, Legzdins knows how important the game is on Sunday to the fans, and will be hoping he is selected from the start, having missed out on the cup clash with Villa last season.
