The Blues’ 1-1 draw against the Blades ensured Leeds United remained second in the Championship.

Birmingham City followed up their impressive 1-0 win over Leeds United last weekend with another result against another Championship automatic promotion hopeful in midweek as Sheffield United were held to a 1-1 draw at St Andrew’s.

The Blues, who are fighting to steer clear of the relegation zone following their recent points deduction, fell behind as Blades left-back Enda Stevens scored his first goal in more than a year on 38 minutes.

However, Garry Monk’s side surged back before the break as they levelled through Michael Morrison’s close-range strike, and the second half brought no further goals in a significant result at both ends of the table.

Birmingham now sit 17th in the table, six points clear of the Championship’s bottom three with five games left, still work to be done but with a much more promising outlook given their torrid run prior to the win over Leeds.

The Whites, meanwhile, ended the matchday second in the table and, with both Marcelo Bielsa’s side and Sheff Utd having played 41 games, the former is a point ahead of Chris Wilder’s charges.
