A number of Birmingham City fans have been commenting on Twitter as their Under-23s ran out 3-0 winners over their Leeds United counterparts in the Professional Development League, just a day before the Blues and the Whites lock horns at Elland Road in the Championship.

The St Andrew’s side took the lead against the Whites just seven minutes into the game at Leamington’s Phillips 66 Community Stadium as Miguel Fernandez was put through by Ryan Stirk and rifled a fine striker into the top corner of the net.

Leeds remained one down come half time but Birmingham doubled their advantage not long after the restart as Fernandez guided the ball into the path of Jack Concannon, who marauded forward before weighing in with a top-corner finish of his own.

Although Carlos Corberan’s charges did weigh in with numerous opportunities, they conceded a third when Illan Meslier was dispossessed after coming out of his box and Fernandez netted his second of the game from long range.

Here is what some Birmingham fans said on social media, hoping for more of the same tomorrow:

Marcelo Bielsa’s charges – fifth in the Championship table – host Pep Clotet’s side – 12th in the standings – at Elland Road in a 3pm kickoff tomorrow.
