Birmingham City captain Paul Robinson has not ruled out playing beyond the end of the current campaign, as reported by the

Robinson has played for five clubs over the course of his 20-year career, with his current tenure with the Blues having so far lasted four years.

Over that period of time he has made many memories at St Andrew’s, with fans embracing him as one of their own, but with the defender now being 37 years old there are bound to be questions about his future.

Robinson has mainly been used as a substitute so far this season as he begins to focus on his coaching career for when he retires. At the weekend, he made his 150th appearance for the Midlands side.

He told the Birmingham Mail: “I am not saying I will play my last game this season because I feel great, I feel fit, I feel strong.

“Maybe not playing all the time is making me feel better, giving me that little bit more rest. It’s not Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday, it’s playing the odd few minutes, or if I am going to get a run in the team it’s how I am going to manage my body.

“I am leaving my options open to how I feel. If it’s similar arrangement next season that would be brilliant. Every little helps for me, if I am doing more coaching next year then that step is getting closer.”

Robinson was also a popular figure at his other clubs, most notably Watford and West Bromwich Albion where he spent seven years each.

Whether or not we will see him pull on the shirt for the final time in the next 12 months remains to be seen, but he will most definitely give it everything he has until the day he retires.
