Birmingham City full-back Kristian Pedersen has told BluesTV that Leeds United wanted to sign him before he made the move to the Blues.

Pedersen, who can operate as a left-back or as a left-winger, joined Birmingham from Union Berlin in Germany in the summer of 2018.

As reported by The Birmingham Mail, the Championship club were initially unable to register the 25-year-old at the time due to Financial Fair Play issues, but they were able to do so just two days before the opening game of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Dane has said that Leeds and Derby were interested in signing him before he went to Birmingham, and he has also claimed interest in him from other clubs.

Pedersen told BluesTV, as transcribed by The Birmingham Mail: “Me and my agent were having a meeting together and there were some clubs interested in me.

“When he said Birmingham, I was pretty sure it was going to be them. There were a few other clubs [interested in signing me]. Freiburg and Mainz, Bundesliga clubs, and then you’ve got Leeds and Derby.”
