The Blues star endured a difficult afternoon against Wolves.

Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson has told Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly podcast that his toughest opponent this season is a Wolverhampton Wanderers player.

The Blues have began the campaign strongly, with only goal difference keeping them out of the play-off places, while Donaldson has found the net four times in eight appearances so far.

However, there is one game in which the Jamaica international has admitted he ‘didn’t get much joy’ – last month’s 3-1 defeat to local rivals Wolves.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, when asked who his toughest opponent has been this season, he picked a defender from Walter Zenga’s side.

“This season? I probably would say Danny Batth,” Donaldson told Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly podcast. “Yeah the tall one, I think he’s the skipper as well. It was a tough game and I didn’t get much joy so I probably would say him.”

Not only did he help to shut out Donaldson, Batth was also on the scoresheet at St. Andrew’s that day.

The 26-year-old academy product recently signed a new deal at Molineux, which once concluded will have seen him spend exactly two-thirds of his life at the club.

Batth, who was born in Brierley Hill, Dudley, has established himself as a regular in Wolves’ side since his return from a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday in 2012.
