Birmingham City look set to welcome back one of their key players, after he previously missed the last three fixtures, through injury.

Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson is set to return to the Blues’ squad to face Nottingham Forest on Friday night, manager Gary Rowett has told the Birmingham Mail.
Donaldson has missed the last three matches through injury, but is expected to be available after having an injection on his Achilles, states the newspaper.
Rowett, however, confirmed that Paul Caddis will miss the fixture as he remains the Championship club’s only long-term injury concern.

Rowett is quoted by the Birmingham Mail as saying: “We are probably looking the strongest we have looked for a while, there is only Caddy out with a long-term injury, which we didn’t think was going to be quite as bad but it is obviously going to take a little bit more time.
“Clayton is due to train this morning (Thursday), everyone else has been in, everyone else has been training. He has been out on the grass for probably ten days now. He has been running, doing some ball work. There are just certain elements he has not been able to do.
“Top end sprinting for an Achilles injury has been a little bit of an issue. He has done some but I think he has felt it a tiny bit… He has been outside working very hard. He has been running, I think he will be fit.”

The 32-year-old striker has already scored four goals in all competitions this season and has been at the club since 2014 following his transfer from Brentford and has made 98 appearances, netting 31 times.
Meanwhile, Rowett also confirmed to the Birmingham Mail that Robert Tesche remains a doubt for Friday’s match against Forest after receiving a knock in training earlier on in the week, but that he hopes the issue will be cleared before the fixture.
