Birmingham City put a major dent in Leeds United’s automatic-promotion hopes on Saturday.

Birmingham City’s Twitter account has taken a shot at Leeds after a Che Adams strike ensured that the Blues became the first team to complete the double against Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season.
The Whites’ automatic-promotion hopes have suffered a setback as a first-half goal from Che Adams proved to be the difference on an incredibly frustrating day for the visitors at St Andrew’s.
Leeds had some chances to score, but Patrick Bamford once again endured a miserable day in front of goal. And once the summer signing was replaced, the Whites struggled to ask many questions of Birmingham, who defended superbly after the break.
For Garry Monk’s men, it was an important win after five defeats on the spin. They remain five points clear of the bottom three, but have plenty of sides standing between them and Rotherham, who occupy that last relegation spot.

It was also Birmingham’s second victory against Leeds this season. The Blues took a 2-0 lead inside half an hour at Elland Road back in September and frustrated the life out of the home side to hold onto a 2-1 victory.
It was a similar story for Leeds on Saturday, who have now fallen to third in the Championship as Sheffield United claimed a victory away at Preston North End – who are the Whites’ next opponents.
