Birmingham City have taken Josh McEachran on trial.

Birmingham City boss Pep Clotet believes there will be a conclusion to Josh McEachran’s trial very soon as he has been left impressed by the former Brentford midfielder, Birmingham Mail report.
“Probably there is going to be a development soon but nothing new at the moment. He trained very well, he has made a positive impact and I expect a conclusion this very soon,” Clotet explained.
Former Chelsea academy player McEachran was last seen at Brentford. However, the Bees released the midfielder in the summer following the end of his contract.
McEachran has plenty of Championship experience. The 26-year-old made 90 league appearances for the Bees in four years, while he also enjoyed previous loan spells at Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic.
Ironically, he scored his first professional goal against Birmingham in October 2018 as he started last season as a regular in Brentford’s midfield before injuries sidelined him towards the end of the campaign.

The Blues are lacking in midfield depth and McEachran fits the style of possession-based play which Spanish boss Clotet is looking to implement at St. Andrew’s.
McEachran is said to have spent time at Sheffield Wednesday a few months ago, but he has since been with the Blues, training with the senior team and playing in the last three U23 matches.
