Birmingham City were humbled by Newcastle United today.
The Blues were on the wrong end of a 4-0 thrashing against Championship leaders Newcastle United today, and Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett admitted that his side were taught a lesson in more ways than one, as quoted by the Chronicle.
The Midlands outfit have now lost back-to-back league games, and have slipped outside the promotion play-off spots, but only because of their inferior goal difference to sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.
Blues fans will be hoping that their season has not begun to unravel, after making such a promising start to their campaign.

Rowett, though, is adamant that his side can learn form their loss, citing how they were outplayed form both a technical and atheletical perspective, as quoted by the Chronicle:
“Not only was it a bit of a football lesson, it was also an athletic lesson as well. The top players run, sprint and they have got a little bit of everything more. Make no bones about it, this is a Premier League team we were playing against. In a stadium like this, if you don’t start well and hang on a little bit longer, you are going to find it’s a very, very tough afternoon.”

Rowett’s men now face a crucial five game period that takes them into the new year, that could very well define their season.
The average league position of their next five opponents is 11.2, so they have every opportunity of putting a good run together, especially with three of those games being at St Andrews, and forcing themselves back inside the top six.
