Birmingham City fans are expecting their side to push for promotion this season.
Blues boss Gary Rowett has shared his intentions to strengthen his side over the January transfer window, during an interview with the Birmingham Mail.
Birmingham currently sit just one place outside the play-off spots in the Championship table, but they are without a win in their last three league outings.

Rowett, who met with the club’s new owners in the week leading up to the second city derby against Aston Villa, explained how his side will now be able to compete on a more even playing field with their competitors financially, and how he is focused on bringing in quality over quantity in January, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:
“We are working very hard, we have got a good squad and I think we will be able to add to that in January – probably for the first time – in a strong way in terms of being competitive. We will have to add some quality and hopefully for me it will be maybe about adding two players rather than five or six. This time, for the two years I have been here certainly, I think the next window we will be in the best position we have been in.”
When asked about where in particular he would like to strengthen, Rowett responded, hinting that somewhere along the forward line could be a position that he is prioritising, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“You are always looking for areas, the forward areas every team looks for more goals, but I am pretty pleased with the squad we have got, you are just naturally going to try and get some others as well to help them through the course.”
The Blues return to Championship action on November 19th as they head into a run of three successive fixtures that look very winnable, on paper at least, before they face their toughest test of the season so far – a trip to St James’ Park to take on league leaders Newcastle United.
