Blues manager Rowett has stated that he has a gut feeling the club will be able to sustain their play-off push this season.
Birmingham have made a strong start to their 2016-17 Championship campaign, with many people discussing their play-off potential, and manager Gary Rowett has admitted that he has a “gut feeling” that they can finish in the top six, as reported by Birmingham Mail.
Under Rowett, the Blues have been gradually improving and now they seem ready to make a serious push for promotion.
It is no wonder that fans are confident about their chances this season, as the club currently reside in sixth place with just one loss in their first 11 league games.
During an interview, manager Rowett was asked about his side’s chances of sustaining their play-off run for longer than they did last year.
He said, via the Birmingham Mail: “It’s almost an impossible question to answer. For me we look stronger and we look a more solid experienced unit and we‘ve got better options.
“You saw that against Preston, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn – when you’ve got someone like Diego [Fabbrini] coming off the bench to effectively help us to win the game.
“My gut feeling is that we can stay in the race a little bit longer, but it’s a really difficult Championship.”
Whether or not he is talking down just how well he believes his side are playing is unknown, but Blues fans will nevertheless take great confidence from his comments.
Blues will look to maintain their recent form when they travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest after the international break.
